Why is Your Carpet Buckling and What Can You Do

When it comes to types of flooring you want to make sure that it is fulfilling its purpose and stays looking beautiful and clean. This is relatively easy with any type of flooring. However, of no fault of your own, your flooring can become a safety hazard and stop looking as beautiful as it once was. We will go through how that can be the case with carpet and what you’re able to do about. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair has been repairing carpet for many years now and wants to make sure that you’re not caught in the dark about this.

Carpet Wrinkles or Buckling

Carpet Wrinkles and carpet buckling means the same thing. Basically, at one point your carpet was beautiful and flat and then all of a sudden, your carpet starts to show a small raised wave. That wave is what is considered a wrinkle or buckle in your carpet.

How Does it Happen?

There are two main reasons as to why your carpet will start to buckle. The first reason doesn’t need much of an explanation with it. Poor installation has been known to cause this. If it is happening within your entire house, then that is the probable cause. When carpet isn’t stretched and tacked properly then it is easy for it to become loose.

The second cause is more unlikely to happen in Colorado. Humidity levels drastically going up and down will also cause this. Humidity makes your carpet expand and retract, leaving you with wonderful wrinkles in it. If this is the case then you should see the wrinkles and once the humidity has gone, they will disappear again.

What Can You do?

You can rent at your local hardware store what is called a “Knee Kicker”. This will allow you to stretch your carpet back out yourself. You’ll want to be mindful that it can cause you to blow out your knee. So, if you aren’t wanting to go into the hospital for knee surgery then it might be best for the professionals to do it. Here at Nip Tuck Carpet Repair we use what is called a power stretcher. This allows us to get the best possible stretch out of your carpet and leave you with a 5-year warranty on it. If you’re in need of our services, then just give us a call! We would be happy to do an estimate over the phone and go over all of our safety procedures with you!
